Simple injections of Dysport will improve fine lines and wrinkles without surgery and without scars.
What is Dysport?
Dysport is an injectable product composed of purified botulinum toxin.
Dysport works by temporarily disrupting nerve signals to the muscles where it is injected, which means that patients can no longer make extreme facial expressions that cause dynamic wrinkles. These are the wrinkles that form when you squint, frown, or smile, such as crow’s feet, glabellar lines, or horizontal forehead lines. With modern injection techniques, however, you can still freely express yourself and avoid the “frozen” look.
Who Can Benefit from Dysport?
Many patients can benefit from Dysport, assuming that they do not have specific medical conditions such as bleeding disorders or certain allergies.
Before you receive injections, your health history will be reviewed to ensure that the product is safe for you. Your concerns will also be evaluated to make sure that Dysport is your most effective option. For example, some wrinkles are caused by volume loss rather than repetitive motion, meaning that other injectables are more suitable. Dysport is typically used for:
- Vertical lines between the eyebrows and on the bridge of the nose • Squint lines or crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Platysmal muscle bands (vertical lines) often visible on the neck
- Lower facial muscles such as the masseter muscle (to lessen the squareness and fullness of the lateral jawline), wrinkles around the mouth, and turning down at the corners of the mouth. – Perioral lines (lines around the mouth) or turned-down corners of the mouth
How Long Do Dysport Results Last?
Dysport results are not permanent, because the disrupted chemical messenger created by the Dysport wears off and the normal communication between the nerve and muscle re-establishes itself. On average, Dysport results last about 3-4 months, although some patients have seen results for up to 6 months. Your results will vary depending on factors like the amount of Dysport you receive, the treatment area, and whether you have received Dysport in the past. Once your results begin to fade, you can have maintenance injections to maintain the rejuvenated look. Most patients find that their results will last longer over time with regular maintenance treatments. During a consultation, a treatment plan can be determined to achieve your best possible results, including scheduled maintenance or touch-up injections as needed.
Botox® vs. Dysport vs. Xeomin
Skinfinity Medspa offers Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, all which are neuromodulator injectables that work using botulinum toxin. These three products are very comparable, but have some slight variation in their formulation. The main difference between Xeomin and Botox is that Xeomin contains a “naked” form of botulinum toxin. Some have referred to it as a more “organic Botox” which is used as more of a buzz word, not an official claim. Unlike Botox, which contains accessory proteins, Xeomin is designed to deliver the toxin without any protein additives. This purified structure may help prevent antibody resistance, a growing problem that has been seen with injections administered over time. Xeomin, like Dysport, often times will take effect slightly quicker as well. Dysport commonly will take effect quicker, but also may wear off slightly quicker. Botox results can take longer to appear post treatment, but also tend to last longer before maintenance injections are necessary. We recommend trying each “fox” at different times to see which result you prefer, as well as which product tends to work best with your body. Often times, patients like the results of each product and will periodically alternate between them, to prevent the body from developing a “tolerance” to the product, causing it to be less effective. During a consultation, your Skinfinity expert injector can help you choose which of the two products is the best option for you.
At Skinfinity, are injectors are highly trained and offer advanced skills, techniques and are experienced in using all neuromodulators to prevent early signs of aging, as well as to treat a variety of immediate concerns, including:

- Horizontal forehead lines
- Platysmal muscle bands (vertical lines) often visible on the neck
- Lower facial muscles such as the masseter muscle (to lessen the squareness and fullness of the lateral jawline), wrinkles around the mouth, and turning down at the corners of the mouth.
